Plastic toothbrushes are one of the many plastics that break up into “microplastics”, which end up in the bellies of many marine animals! This in turn ends up being ingested by us.
Bamboo toothbrushes are biodegradable: The fact that bamboo, like other woods, degrades naturally, and has a high strength-to-weight ratio, makes it an ideal material to make toothbrushes out of and to replace your old polluting plastic toothbrushes with. The bristles are the only part that is made of nylon and are therefore not biodegradable. Simply pull out the bristles with pliers when you are done and throw in the trash.
