A Fragrant Southern Classic with Continuous Blooms

The Jubilation™ Gardenia is a symbol of Southern charm and elegance. With its rich, glossy evergreen foliage and fragrant white blooms, this gardenia brings beauty and aroma to any landscape. Coming in a compact and rounded form, the Jubilation™ Gardenia is ideal for small gardens, borders, or decorative containers, offering the timeless appeal of traditional gardenias in a more manageable size.

What Makes the Jubilation Gardenia Unique?

Developed as part of the Southern Living Plant Collection, the Jubilation™ Gardenia was designed to combine the signature fragrance and classic beauty of the traditional gardenia with improved blooming performance and compact growth. Its introduction brought a modern touch to an old favorite, giving gardeners an easy-care, repeat-blooming variety suited for contemporary landscapes. This cultivar continues the legacy of the beloved Gardenia jasminoides, long cherished across the South for its pure white flowers and captivating scent.

Jubilation Gardenia Care and Growing Guide

Jubilation Gardenia thrives in full sun or partial shade, though typically performing best with morning sunlight and some afternoon protection in hotter climates. It prefers well-drained soil that stays evenly moist but not soggy. A thick layer of mulch can help regulate soil temperature and retain moisture, especially during the summer heat. Regular watering during the first growing season encourages a strong root system. After establishment, the shrub becomes moderately drought-tolerant. Minimal pruning is needed, though you can lightly trim after the main flush of flowers to shape and maintain its compact form.

Jubilation™ Gardenia Features and Characteristics

This evergreen shrub grows 3 to 4 feet in both height & width, forming a rounded habit that fits beautifully into borders, foundations, or containers. Its dark green, glossy leaves provide a pleasing backdrop for the fragrant white blooms that appear in late spring and continue reblooming from summer into early fall. Each bloom releases a sweet fragrance that adds to the surrounding air, making it a favorite near entryways, porches, and walkways. Growing best in USDA Zones 7a through 10b, Jubilation™ Gardenia offers a long season of color and scent in warm to temperate regions.
