What Are Premium Gelatinized Red Maca Capsules?

Premium Gelatinized Red Maca Capsules contain red maca root (Lepidium meyenii) that is processed shortly after harvest, dried using controlled low-temperature dehydration, gelatinized and then milled into powder for encapsulation.

The powder inside each capsule is pure Premium Gelatinized Red Maca Root Powder. The finished product consists of 99% maca root powder and 1% vegetable cellulose from the vegan capsule shell, with no fillers, binders or flow agents.

What Does “Premium” Maca Mean?

At The Maca Team, “Premium” refers to the way the maca roots are handled after harvest. Instead of relying only on the extended traditional sun-drying process, Premium maca roots are processed shortly after harvest using controlled low-temperature dehydration.

This creates a different preparation from our standard maca products and gives Premium maca its own characteristic appearance, flavor and processing profile.

What Does “Gelatinized” Maca Mean?

After the Premium processing step, the red maca is gelatinized using heat and pressure. Gelatinization removes much of the root’s naturally occurring starch and creates a pre-cooked form of maca.

Despite the name, gelatinized maca contains no gelatin. The term refers only to the processing method, and the finished product remains completely plant-based.

Some people who find raw maca difficult to digest prefer gelatinized maca because much of the natural starch has been removed.

About Red Maca Root

Red maca is one of the three primary maca root colors traditionally grown in the Peruvian Andes.

Red maca comes from roots ranging naturally from light pink to deep red and maroon. Along with yellow and black maca, it is one of the three primary maca colors traditionally grown in the Andes.
