What is Tulasi Oil?
Tulasi Oil (also spelled Tulsi Oil) is the pure essential oil steam-distilled from the leaves of Holy Basil (Ocimum sanctum / Ocimum tenuiflorum) — the sacred plant of Indian households and classical Ayurveda. Known in Sanskrit as “the incomparable one,” Tulasi has been used for over 3,000 years in medicine, daily ritual, and wellness.
Why Kerala Tulasi Oil is different
Our oil is steam-distilled from fresh, pesticide-free Tulasi leaves grown in Kerala. The result is a pale yellow to light greenish oil with a sharp, warm, slightly clove-like aroma (because of its natural eugenol content — the same aromatic compound found in cloves). Unlike many commercial “Tulsi oils” that are perfume-grade reconstitutions or diluted with cheap carrier oils, our 7 ml bottle is 100% pure undiluted essential oil — one drop is enough for most applications.
Traditional uses
Respiratory wellness
• Add 2–3 drops to a bowl of hot water and inhale the steam for cough, cold, and nasal congestion
• Add 1 drop to a diffuser for continuous ambient respiratory support
• Mix 1 drop with a teaspoon of honey (adults only) — classical Ayurvedic remedy for throat relief
Skin care
• Add 1 drop to coconut or jojoba oil for use on acne-prone skin
• Mix 2 drops with 1 tbsp aloe vera gel for a soothing mask
• Apply diluted (never undiluted) to insect bites for relief
Aromatherapy and stress relief
• Diffuse 3–4 drops at bedtime for calming aromatherapy
• Add to a warm bath with rock salt
• Apply diluted to pulse points for daytime stress relief
Home pooja and rituals
• Add 1–2 drops to the deepam (oil lamp) for a sacred fragrance
• Use in incense blends and aarti preparations
How to use safely
Tulasi essential oil is highly concentrated — always dilute before applying to skin. Standard dilution: 1 drop essential oil to 1 teaspoon carrier oil (coconut, sesame, jojoba). Not for internal use without medical supervision. Keep out of reach of children. Avoid during pregnancy without consulting a qualified practitioner.

Frequently asked questions
Is this pure Tulasi essential oil?
Yes — 100% pure undiluted Tulasi (Holy Basil) essential oil, steam-distilled from fresh Kerala-grown leaves. No carrier oil, no fillers, no fragrance additives.
How do I use Tulasi oil for cough and cold?
Add 2–3 drops to a bowl of hot (not boiling) water, cover your head with a towel, and inhale the steam for 5–10 minutes. Repeat 2–3 times a day. You can also add 1 drop to a diffuser for continuous ambient relief.
Can Tulasi oil be applied directly to the skin?
No — always dilute first. Standard dilution: 1 drop Tulasi oil per 1 teaspoon of carrier oil (coconut, sesame, jojoba). Undiluted essential oil can irritate skin.
Is Tulasi oil safe for kids?
Diffusing is generally safe for children over 2 years. Avoid direct skin application on young children. Consult a pediatrician before any new oil use for kids.
Can I drink Tulasi oil?
Internal use of essential oils is generally not recommended without the supervision of a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner or aromatherapist. For internal Tulasi benefits, fresh or dried Tulasi leaves in tea are safer.
Why is Kerala Tulasi oil special?
Kerala’s soil and climate produce Tulasi plants with a high eugenol content, giving the oil its characteristic warm, clove-like aroma and therapeutic quality. Our oil is steam-distilled from fresh leaves within 24 hours of harvest for maximum potency.
How long does a 7 ml bottle last?
Because a single drop is enough for most uses, one 7 ml bottle typically lasts 2–3 months for a regular user. Buy the Pack of 2, 5, or 10 to save on per-bottle price if you use it daily.
Is Tulasi oil safe during pregnancy?
Essential oils, including Tulasi, should be used with caution during pregnancy. Consult a qualified practitioner before use.
